IRM’s range of hydro-pneumatic fenders are designed to be installed vertically making them ideal for use with submarines or vessels whose impact point is likely to be below the waterline such as catamarans, semi-submersible platforms and drilling rigs.
The fenders are manufactured with a water tight bladder inside that has external access points for ballasting and trimming.
The bottom end of the fender is fitted with an additional ballast weight to prevent the fender from flipping.
The fenders can be installed on most quay structures and come in a range of sizes to suit the application and a range of vessels.
Hydro-pneumatic fenders being installed vertically should be fixed to the top of the quay structure where ever possible.
Restraint chains fixed to the collar of the fender should be installed back to the quay structure for maximum stability.
Access to the inflation and ballasting points at the top of the fender is essential for maintenance and precise internal pressures that are required for the berthing of light hulled vessels such as submarines and catamarans. Installation diagrams and a table of dimensions can be found below. |
